HOW YOU CAN TAKE A BREAK BUT STILL KEEP NATURE WHOLE.
WE USE RECYCLABLE MATERIALS WHEREVER POSSIBLE – 99 PER CENT OF THE TIME. WITH YOUR HELP WE CAN MAKE IT 100 PER CENT!
Every year we collect over 20,000 litres of rainwater that we then use for cisterns and laundry.
And solar panels supply 20 percent of the electricity we need to keep the building operating efficiently.
Love of the environment
We observe twin obligations in everything we do: to guarantee you the best possible service, while always keeping one eye on the environment.
How do we strike that balance? Well, it’s in the little things. It all adds up. Our detergents, for instance, are refilled in jerrycans. Our milk and yoghurt, likewise, are served in refillable containers. We tap directly into springwater. We are constantly vigilant against waste; constantly looking to use locally sourced raw materials.
Can you help?
Everything we do is governed by respect for our mountain environment, and a determination to conserve it.
That’s why we have elected to dispense with one or two extra services that might well be congenial, but that we should all be prepared to renounce – especially when they are already available as public services. For instance, we don’t run a shuttle to the lifts because there is free and efficient council service, stopping outside our front entrance every half-hour, summer and winter. And the route doesn’t just serve the lifts, but various other facilities available in the neighbourhood, not to mention some of those hidden gems, up and down the valley, so integral to its ancient charm.
The hotel car park is, of course, free – and ample. And even on the rare occasions when the heaviest snowfalls make it difficult to clear absolutely every bay, there would then still be ample parking spaces just on the other side of the road, facing the hotel.
